Yes. If your friend or relative is applying for a U.S. Visitor Visa he or she will have to prove that they can afford the trip. If they cannot prove this, you can file an Affidavit of Support. This document shows that you are capable of and willing to provide financial assistance to this person while they are in the U.S., if necessary.
